Over $60 million invested in new shiploader for Gladstone

The Queensland Government has invested more than $60 million in a new coal shiploader for Gladstone which will be built on site and create over 200 jobs. The new shiploader is a replacement, the current shiploader has been in operation for more than 40 years. Usually, machines of this size are imported into Australia, it is a significant achievement for Queensland to be able to construct the shiploader locally. The design process will commence in March 2022 with commissioning planned for May 2024. There was a 36% rise in the value of coal exports in Queensland between 2020 and 2021, the value of exports was close to $80 billion for the year.

Investments like this will continue to provide more jobs, increase trade, and improve the region's prosperity for the next 50 years.
