Almost $70 million invested into Gladstone's Hydrogen Hub project.


The federal government has made a major announcement, that they will be investing almost $70 million towards the Central Queensland Hydrogen Hub (CQ-H2) in Gladstone. The project which is one of the biggest green hydrogen projects in the country is led by Stanwell Corporation, a Queensland government-owned company that will match the investment, bringing the total to $138 million. The funding will allow Gladstone to transform into a green hydrogen hub. The project is expected to create nearly 9,000 jobs and almost 300,000 tonnes of green hydrogen each year. Works are expected to commence next year, and the project aims to be running by 2027. The funding is part of the Australian Government’s Regional Hydrogen Hubs Program, this Program is investing over $500 million in seven hydrogen hubs across Australia. The Regional Hydrogen Hubs program is part of the $40 billion investment to transform the country into a green energy powerhouse.
